Parents for Inclusion provides training for parents of disabled children, and also to teachers, other professionals and allies who want to develop inclusion in their school or early years setting. Our workshops are run by parents together with disabled Disability Equality Trainers, so we can share the perspective and understanding of both. Our courses range from one day workshops to flexible ongoing training that you can do at your own pace.

Workshops for parents
Across the country parents are linked through Pi. We offer a chance to get together here in Lambeth or locally to you. Our workshops bring parents together to learn from each other so we can help make inclusion real for our children. We build up our skills and confidence step by step:
Planning Positive Futures
![]()
This 3 day course aims to give you the tools for planning a positive future for your disabled child.
A journey from the past through the present to the future. We will look at new ways to think about disability with disabled people themselves. We will look back at the past and the history of disabled people. We will look at the present with a fresh approach and dare to look at the future with hope, together. A chance to share experiences, celebrate our children and make friends.
Come and explore:
- The importance of our love for our children
- How we can be together with all our differences
- How inclusion must really work for all
- Who and what threatens to limit our children's horizons
- How dreams for our children's future can turn into reality

The Open University - a new course:
Inclusive Education: Learning from Others
This Open University course is about the need for education to be responsive to all learners. It is for anyone interested in children and young people who encounter difficulties in education, whether related to disability, disaffection, learning difficulty, or other aspects of diversity. The course enables you to pursue a broad interest in learners from birth to adulthood, or to take an early/primary years focus. There is an emphasis on learning from one another - both for pupils as a key element of inclusive education and as practitioners and students interested in the issues.
The underlying premise is that we are all experts in different ways, and that our different experiences and understandings are of value. Inclusive education is presented and discussed as under construction, both in educational settings and as a concept. You are encouraged to engage with new perspectives on inclusive education and to develop your own perspectives. The materials are largely rooted in the social model of disability and human/disability rights frameworks. Course details on Open University website .....
Course number: E243
Start date: Feb 2007 (course runs till Oct 2007)
